Biking is Cool

Logan's favorite hobby is bike riding. We decided it was time he joined the big boys at the skate park where he did some pretty sweet tricks.

He even took a drop into the big bowl, leaving my heart leaping into my throat. Seriously. I wasn't ready for that.

Jade's bike is pretty tall for tricks at the skate park, so she rode her scooter.

They come in threes

On Monday, a nasty little bug bit Logan a couple of times next to his right eye. The next day his eye swelled up so badly we started calling him Quasimodo. Wednesday he had an appt at the dentist's office to have his bottom two teeth pulled out since the 2nd set had come in behind them. An hour at the dentist wasn't enough I guess because we had to head back in this afternoon. The kids were a playing a "can't touch the clothes" game at the department store when Logan fell and landed his front teeth hard against the clothing rack stabalizing bar. I, feeling quite embarrassed about the scene we were causing, rushed to check out with my items. I took a quick look at his bleeding mouth before we left and decided I'd not been quite sensitive enough to his pain. His teeth were hanging from his bruised and bloody gums. GROSS. So we spent another hour and a half at the dentist today. And the tooth fairy will be making yet another trip to Logan's room tonight. I'm glad school doesn't start until Monday.

See You Soon

My parents begin their first mission for the LDS church as a senior couple in 7 days. They will spend two weeks in training then drive to NYC where they will serve for 18 months. When they come home my baby will be starting kindergarten. I haven't gone more than maybe a month without seeing my parents in my entire life. As I've grown older I have enjoyed their company more and more. The closer we move toward their departure date, the more anxiety I feel thinking about that last hug. For now, we keep saying "we'll see you soon." I think when it's time for them to actually leave I'll just say that again. Then it won't feel like it's going to be such a long time.

Experience

Nate has gained quite a reputation as a photographer among our close friends and family. Unfortunately, someone in my neighborhood was looking for a photographer for a funeral and Nate was working that day. Well, I know how to use the camera, so I agreed to do it. Out of respect for the family, I'm not including any that show their faces, but the photos below are some of my favorites. Funerals may be sad occasions, but they sure are full of color. The honor guard was especially fun to photograph. The gentleman playing taps is 93 years old!

No Time for Naps

Aeris, though now THREE years old (where has the time gone?) still very much needs her nap. She never wants to miss out on anything, so when it's time for naps or bed at night she comes out of her room over and over. Some days I just plain don't have the energy to constantly send her back into her room, so the nap doesn't happen until her little body can't resist any longer and she crashes somewhere.
